D E C O R – The bedroom story

D E C O R – The bedroom story

The days I get to spend in Cluj come as an oasis of peace after Bucharest. Although I focused on writing and editing lately, I realized that I am enjoying the summer in a different way. I get inspired by every detail, every flavor in the air. The way people walk down the street, the trams, the flowers, the city rustling ending our days in a very special manner. Every day, a new sunset lights the sky in vibrant colors. It’s like a giant hand would have put a color filter all over the sky and across the city. These are the moments when we are most often in bed, looking all over the window. Often I go out in the balcony to see the entire landscape closely. I cannot resist and I take a time-lapse scene for the vlog. I go back to grab that book, remain for some more time in bed, stretch, turn around, release the projector and open my Netflix account. These days,  the first episode of the new Game of Thrones season is about to appear, until that moment, I randomly watch whatever comes first. I like to watch old series and yesterday evening I started wtaching Narcos, with Raul.

I do not think there is any better definition how to spend a summer afternoon than the one described above. That’s why you need the comfort of a cool duvet on the bed that you can move with your foot and sink into your pillows for a good show. Because I’ve promised for a while that I will make a home-tour video soon, these days I took the first steps – I filmed and I set up the story that will be a part-voice over – part interview. The bedroom is painted in a shade … of Rose-Beige, the bed is made by my father and the mattress is from Napsie. The mattress has four layers of foam so it takes the shape of your body. Raul felt asleep instantly when it was first put on the mattress and I followed him a few hours later ,on my side of the bed. In any case, we have been conquered by our Napsie mattress, it is extremely comfortable. Makes you want to stay in bed. And I do not know if that’s good for productivity. The mattress has two cores, so you do not feel the moves of your partner and you will be perfectly resting every night and if this wasn’t enough, I’ve also seen a video on Youtube. Video where you put the glass of wine on the mattress and somebody jumps on the other side of it. I knew it was my mattress. If you’ve ever poured a glass of wine on a mattress, you’ll understand my enthusiasm. Well, I guess can jump in bed now. When I think about the ideal mattress I clearly think of a mattress with memory foam because the comfort level is much higher than the one experienced on a normal mattress. I think it has a tasteful design, in neutral colors, a zipper pouch – and yes Napsie has a zipper pouch that you can take down and throw it in the #NoFuss washing machine … and I’m also thinking about the price.

Buddha Statue Shelter is a project that was designed together with Raul. We used two garden statues, two round bulbs, wood and a mirror. Some cable connections later, and voila, the statues also light up. That seems to me a beautiful idea for the garden or the terrace, but without the wood. Curtains are light gray but darken the room well enough when you want to linger in bed in the morning. I often like to leave the window open to study curtain movements and listen to some  music. For music, we have a four-speaker system through the walls and a bass that sounds great. I can listen from my laptop or phone. If you start a movie, you also want a wide, cinematic sound and these speakers help. Everything is about the atmosphere.

The chandelier was initially supposed to be in the office (actually this room was an office earlier), and for that office I was thinking about an Art Deco theme, Miami with the open wall, white desk, white ceiling, golden details, minibar. I found it at the flea market, cleaned it and added crystals because it had only the top, which is also very spectacular with those glass inserts. It gives a warm and diffused light when it’s turned on and shadows on the elephant painting I brought from Thailand. Do you still know when we stopped somewhere next to the giant statue of the Buddha and entered a workshop of a local painter? Well, that’s the painting.

The bedroom must be an oasis of peace for me so I opt for dark, navy, emerald green or khaki bed sheets. These colors make me feel calm and also look great in contrast to the white bed. The pillows have to be as many as possible, under the head, one in the arms, one between the legs, I love them pillows and I like to arrange them in different ways to add another visual and emotional effect of the room. I remember the same as in the other apartment where we used to live – at some point after I did my big tattoo, I had a darker mood and changed the bed linen and decorative cushions with some shades of gray and I completely changed the atmosphere of what was actually a completely white bedroom. Anyway, I will never paint another bedroom in white. It’s too much, it’s the room where you have to relax and sleep. Average and closed registers. Even so, what is your favorite color for bedding? But for a bedroom wall? I can hardly wait to share with you the tour of the apartment, we’re working on it. Until then, take advantage of the summer and stay with us for other articles in the D E C O R series.
